The Redmi Buds 4 and Redmi Buds 4 Pro were launched in China, but aren’t available to the global market just yet. In China, these devices retail for 399 Yuan ($60) and 199 Yuan($30) respectively. Xiaomi is most likely going to announce the global availability of these devices in the next coming weeks. Compared to last year’s models, there are really not many significant upgrades Xiaomi has made on the Redmi Buds 4 and Redmi Buds 4 Pro.
Redmi Buds 4 Specs
Weight with charging box: 49gWeight of single earphone: 4.5g35dB Active Noise ReductionBattery life with charging box: Approx. 30 hours (with noise reduction off)Battery life of headphones: Approx. 6 hoursCharging interface: USB-C Bluetooth version: 5.2
The Redmi Buds 4 sport 35dB Active Noise Reduction, dual-mic call noise reduction, 10mm moving coil unit, dual transparency model, and 30 hours of battery when paired with the charging case. In terms of design, the Redmi Buds 4 follows last year’s Airdots 3, but not the Redmi Buds 3. While the Redmi Buds 4 follow a bean-like TWS Earbud design almost similar to the original Airdots, their predecessors, the Redmi Buds 3 follow a stem-like wireless earphones design. So they look radically different from each other. In terms of battery life, the Redmi Buds 4 has a significant upgrade. They now support 30 hours when paired with their charging case and 6 hours on a single charge. Compare this to last year’s model which offered 20 hours and 5 hours with a charging case and on a single charge respectively.
Redmi Buds 4 Pro specs
Single earphone music battery life: Approx. 9 hours (noise reduction off)Battery life with charging box: Approx. 36 hours (noise reduction off)Charging interface: USB-C Bluetooth version: 5.3 59ms game low-latency43dB Broadband Noise Cancellation
Xiaomi has significantly upgraded the Redmi Buds 4 pro with 43dB Active Noise Cancellation(ANC) compared to last year’s Buds 3 pro’s 35dB ANC. Xiaomi claims it’s ANC technology is powered by Artificial Intelligence. The Redmi Buds 4 Pro supports virtual surround sound effects or what Xiaomi calls 360° surround sound. This is quite similar to the Apple Airpod’s Spatial audio but customized for Xiaomi devices. You’ll need the Xiaomi classmates App to turn and tweak this setting. The Redmi Buds 4 pro are optimized for gaming thanks to 59ms game low-latency. Whenever you start playing a game while wearing the earbuds automatically enter the game mode. The 59ms game low latency function, however, needs to be implemented with Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, Redmi Note 11T Pro, and Redmi Note 11T Pro+. Supports dual transparency mode like last year’s Buds 3 pro. Transparency mode enables you to hear the surrounding environment even while wearing the headphones. It also allows you to listen to conversations while listening to music. Comes with an anti-wind noise algorithm that can be automatically turned on after sensing a certain ambient wind speed, outdoor running, and cycling. When it comes to battery life which is a very important aspect when choosing TWS earbuds, the Redmi Buds 4 Pro offer up to 36 hours of battery when paired with the charging case and 9 hours on a single charge. This is based on 50% volume and with noise reduction turned off. This is slightly more battery compared to last year’s Redmi buds 3 Pro which offered 28 hours with the charging case and approximately 6 hours on a single charge. Related post:

With those new changes, the Buds 4 Pro has comparable features to its predecessor. It supports Dual-device smart connectivity which enables the earbuds to connect to two devices at the same time. It supports Qi wireless charging, fast-charging via USB-C interface, gesture controls for answering/rejecting calls, music control, etc, and in-ear detection. The Buds 4 Pro is currently retailing in China at a price of 399 yuan or $60 while the Buds 4 is going for 199 Yuan or $30. Xiaomi is yet to announce the global availability and pricing of these devices, although we should expect the launch a few weeks from now.
